Costa Mesa Fence installation

Mike's Fences builds gorgeous fences and gates for homeowners and businesses in Costa Mesa, CA

Why we love Costa Mesa

From tacos at Mercado to Side Car Donuts and all of the rest of the amazing hole in the wall eateries along 17th Street, Costa Mesa hands down has the best food in Orange County. Also, pound for pound Costa Mesa might have the highest percentage of cool fences of any city in SoCal. We build a LOT of fences in Costa Mesa and love it every time we get a call from the area!

Costa Mesa's City Regulations for Fences

Costa Mesa is one of the few cities in Orange County/Los Angeles that require a permit for all new fences. Other than that, this is our understanding fence rules (*please note these change so please do your research!):

  • The maximum fence height for side and back fences is 6'H

  • The maximum fence height within the front set back is 3'H

  • The front set back for Costa Mesa is 10', meaning from your property line back 10 feet towards your house. *If your house is on a corner, there are slightly different rules to ensure visibility

Common Fence Styles in Costa Mesa

As stated above, Costa Mesa is home to some of the coolest fences in Orange County. We end up building a lot of horizontal fences, skinny slat fences, and other really cool custom wood fences in Costa Mesa; but we also do a lot of functional redwood and cedar fences (think Cap&Trim or Dog Ear) that are great for privacy. Check out some of our recent fences and decks in Costa Mesa - some of which you may have seen driving around!
